Eco-friendly products are a rage nowadays and if a laptop is built using environment-friendly components, which saves energy and also comes with some really excellent features, then obviously it will be a clear winner. The Lenovo ThinkPad L512 is no exception to this trend.

Specifications

1> Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
2>15.6-inch HD 1366 x 768 WXGA Anti-glare
3>Intel Core i3-350M processor (2.26GHz, 3MB cache)
4>3GB DDR3 RAM (2GB x 1GB)
5>250GB Hitachi 5400RPM Hard Drive
6>Intel 6200AGN, Bluetooth, Realtek 1Gb LAN
7> Intel GMA HD Integrated
8>Built-in 2.0M web camera
9>6-cell 10.8v 48Wh
10>Dimensions: (LxWxH) 14.96 x 9.72 x 1.26-1.42 inches
11>Weight: 5.63lbs

Build and Design
The ThinkPad L512 has a very user-friendly laptop for the corporate world. The L- series ThinkPads lacks the trademark rubbery black paint around the chassis, and has a smooth black plastic in place for a cleaner exterior which will not wear off easily. The interior has a slightly rough black plastic palmrest and keyboard surround in the same smooth finish plastic.
The screen protection in the laptop is also quite good with no distortion on the LCD on application of heavy pressure.

Screen and Speakers

A matte-finish LED-backlit display with a 1366×768 WXGA resolution makes the look and feel very eye-catching. But colors and contrast are slightly below average. Viewing angles were good to about 15 degrees forward or back Horizontal viewing angles were much better.

But surprisingly the speaker performance is very average when compared to most consumer notebooks. Bass and midrange are very weak, although volume levels are fine for a small space. The speakers face forward, from directly underneath the screen and so the sound is louder.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard provides a very comfortable typing experience. The layout has been slightly tweaked from other previous models, with changes like a single row of function keys instead of the two rows as found in higher models. The keys give excellent tactile feedback and soft key-presses produce a very soft clicking sound. The media buttons have been moved from above the top row to the left side of the keyboard with buttons for microphone mute, speaker mute and volume up and down which is a trademark Lenovo feature.

Lenovo uses a Synaptics touchpad on this laptop model which is a nice update from the previous ALPS model. Multitouch gestures control are available including two finger tap, with pinch zoom, rotation, three finger press and three finger flick. The touchpad is also very touch-sensitivity with a very fluid cursor movement. Tap and drag movements are also flawless. A pointing stick with proper feedback is also fitted over the touchpad.

Ports and Features

The ThinkPad L512 has three USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA/USB combo port, VGA and DisplayPort-out, and LAN, expansion slots like a SDHC-card reader and ExpressCard/34 slot, DisplayPort connection in place of HDMI port etc.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 can easily replace your home PC, so advanced are its features and designs incorporated into it. A sleek design and an affordable price can give many notebooks a run for their money.

Configurations

1> Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1, 64-bit)
• Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8700 (2.53GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
• 16.0 ” TFT Widescreen display with LED backlighting (1366×768)
• 4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz System Memory
• NVIDIA GeForce G 105M graphics with 256MB discrete memory
• 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
• Dual Layer CD/DVD Recordable
• 1.3 megapixel integrated camera
• JBL stereo speakers (Dolby Home Theater)
• Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 5100 and Bluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR
• Weight: 5.8 lb. including battery
• Dimensions: 390 X 260 X 26.1 mm
• Warranty: 1 year system and 1 year battery
• 6-cell 2000mAh 42Wh battery

Design

The IdeaPad Y650 has a completely different look and is touted as one of the thinnest and lightest laptops in its class. It is made mostly of thin metal, solid plastics and carbon fiber matte black exterior looks extremely classy. Inside the notebook, there is a glossy white surface surrounding the keyboard and touchpad. The large palmrests provide excellent support with reduced flex.

Build quality is excellent with a very rugged feel for a consumer multimedia notebook. When closed the Y650 feels almost as sturdy as the business-class ThinkPad notebooks with very little flex in the screen cover under strong pressure. On closer inspection of the lid, the matte black surface has a honeycomb pattern for subtle styling and easy gripping thanks to the rubberized paint. The body gives the notebook a great deal of support and the combination of metal and plastics used feel rugged enough to withstand regular day-to-day abuse without showing much wear. The only area that could see some mild improvement is the keyboard which shows some flex under heavy typing pressure.

Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard has a unique design it is much smaller keyboard than conventional notebook keyboards to accommodate a large multi-touch touchpad.
Unfortunately, it turns the palmrests into armrests. In spite of that, the keyboard is quite comfortable for typing with acceptable key size and spaces. Some flex is involved on applying heavy typing pressure though.
The Synaptics touchpad is quite large and comfortable for using. It is touch-sensitive, tracks finger movements without much pressure. The multi-touch gestures are easy to handle, but these controls have limited use until more software recognizes them. The touchpad buttons have excellent feedback with a deep throw but they do produce a rather loud “click” when pressed.

Display
The 16-inch screen shows vivid colors with excellent contrast. The LED backlighting, though slightly uneven in the upper right corner, works fine. Horizontal viewing angles are extremely good and the upper vertical ones are moderately good.
A drawback of this screen is the 16:9 ratio which loses some vertical resolution.

Know for its durability, usability, connectivity, serviceability, and warranty coverage, ThinkPad laptops are in a league of their own. The new feather in their cap is the all new ThinkPad X100e

Configuration:
• 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo Single-Core MV-40 Mobile Processor
• 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 (667MHz)
• Windows 7 Professional 32bit
• 11.6″ WXGA HD anti-glare LED Backlit display (1366×768)
• 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
• ATI Radeon 3200 Graphics
• 802.11b/g/n, Gigabit LAN
• 4-in-1 card reader and 0.3-megapixel webcam
• 6-Cell Li-ion battery
• Dimensions: (W x L x H) 11.1″ x 8.2″ x 0.6″/1.2″ weighing 3.3 pounds

Build and Design

The laptop is characterized by an extremely solid build, high-performing keyboards, high precision TrackPoints and fantastic warranty support making it one of the best designed ultraportable notebooks in the market.

The laptop, in a simple black industrial design, comes at a really affordable price. The exterior of the ThinkPad X100e has many similar design features like the others in the ThinkPad family. Much of its looks are like that of the 12-inch ThinkPad X200 business notebook. There’s a simple plastic rectangular screen lid painted in “midnight black” color and is also available in “heatwave red” to zing up your workplace with a dash of color.

Screen
There’s an 11.6″ LED-backlit screen on the X100e with resolution1366x768. The biggest advantage of this screen over many ultraportables is this screen has a matte surface which doesn’t reflect sunlight or strong indoor lights, making it easier to use in any ambience. Horizontal viewing angles are good out to at least 60 degrees to either side color starts to get distorted. But vertical viewing angles have failed to meet expectations.

Speakers
The speaker has an average performance the maximum volume output loud enough to fill a large room with distinct sound. A little distortion at the maximum volume setting can be observed with minimal bass output. They deliver quite a good performance for video conferencing. The speaker location is at the bottom of the notebook with sound getting directed away from the user.
Keyboard and Touchpad
A new keycap design has been implemented to prevent the caps from popping off. It is a Chiclet-style keyboard that allows for more gaps in between the keys on an ultraportable laptop to ensure fewer typing errors. The keys have a springy, responsive action with a curved surface and minimal typing noise. The palmrests are a little small for average adult male hands but support the wrists without causing additional stress during typing. But one drawback is the lack of backlighting.
The Synaptics touchpad with TrackPoint provide some really good control for moving your cursor in different applications. The touchpad surface comes with a pair of touchpad buttons. The TrackPoint buttons include the traditional middle button. They have a fast response time with no considerable lag, excellent sensitivity & no extra adjustment needed. The touchpad has some multitouch capabilities, including pinch-to-zoom and pivot-rotation. The buttons have a slightly shallow clicking depth, & still provide a very deep press.

Ports

Different ports fitted are -AC power jack, battery, 4-in-1 card slot, one USB 2.0 port, VGA out, Heat vent, two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, combo audio jack, Kensington Lock slot etc.

With the new design, Lenovo has combined form and function and delivered this model known for its excellent performance.
Some specifications
1>Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
2> Intel Core i3-330M processor (2.13GHz, 3MB cache)
3> 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 WXGA glossy display
4> Intel GMA HD integrated graphics
5> 2GB DDR3 RAM (2GB x 1)
6> 250GB Fujitsu 5400RPM hard drive
7> Intel 1000BGN Wi-Fi, Realtek Gigabit LAN
8> Built-in web camera
9> 6-cell 10.8v 5.2Ah 57Wh battery
10 Dimensions: (LxWxH) 14.96 x 9.72 x 1.33 – 1.56″ weighing 5.56 pounds

Build and Design

The laptop comes with a silver-trimmed border, multiple glossy and matte screen cover options. The letter background is properly matched to the lid cover.
There is also an LED-empowered ThinkPad logo with the dot above the “i” glowing red when it is switched on. The Edge sports a user-friendly design with flat palmrest and bezel..
The right side of the palmrest experiences some flex under strong pressure proving that mechanical support is wanting in that area.
There’s easy access to internal components via two access panels at the bottom. One panel contains the SIM-card and WWAN PCIe slot, the other gives access to the system memory, CPU and hard drive. The larger panel gives complete access to the processor, heatsink and fan, memory slots and hard drive bay.
Screen and Speakers

The screen is a matte-finish 15-inch WXGA display panel but with very poor contrast compared to other 15-inch panels in the market. Black levels were similar to light grey, creating a domino effect, dimming most vivid colors. A “screen door effect” where each pixels appeared visible at standard viewing distances is present. Viewing angles were average too.
The Edge 15 has thin speakers fitted into the screen bezel beneath the LCD. They are quite small and don’t produce the best sound. Sound quality would improve in video conferences with the in-built webcam. It also features HDMI out, useful for connectivity to home theaters.
Keyboard and Touchpad

Te keyboard isn’t much different from the ones found in previous ThinkPad notebooks with an updated layout.
The keyboard is an island-style blending in with a traditional ThinkPad design. It is easy to type on. The keys are shaped a shallow concave, cupping fingers and quickly centering them. The keyboard layout is excellent and suited for touch-typing.
It has considerable flex even under slight to medium pressure with the maximum flex on the right side of the keyboard above the optical drive.
The laptop has a properly-sized Synaptics touchpad, with almost three times the normal surface area. It is pleasant to use, with quick response time and no considerable lag. Touch sensitivity is superb with no adjustment needed. It has some multitouch capacities-pinch-to-zoom and pivot-rotation with smooth matte finish facilitating gliding across it. The buttons have a slightly shallower clicking motion with good feedback
Ports
It also has a spring-loaded SDHC-card reader, three USB ports and one eSATA/USB connection among other ports.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 is, in all probability the best and most efficient laptop in the ThinkPad category that has been designed by Lenovo in the present day. Lenovo are now the market leaders in the field of laptop design and laptop construction. In the electronic industry laptop design has to be done with a great deal of effort for a brand to be accepted by the public. There a number of companies vying for people’s attentions but the most important parameters when it comes to laptop design and laptop construction is the design of the laptop and the construction of the laptop and these are very important parameters when it comes to judging a laptop. Other parameters include the overall performance of the specific model of the laptop or the notebook and the software compatibility. After all this comes the other features like hardware and software specifications. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 scores in all of these fields combined together. It is one of the best laptops in the world in the present day. Nowadays when one is buying a laptop distinctions has to be made between a notebook and a netbook. A notebook is another name for a laptop, it is capable of multi tasking and has multi program management options. On the other hand, the netbooks are not capable of multi programming and can openly work with one program at a particular time. They are only good for surfing the net or for editing documents. They are also priced much less than the laptops or notebooks. They cannot be used for heavy graphics work. On the other hand, notebooks or laptops can easily be used for multi programming features and boast of much greater functionality. They also boast of greater feature, amazing specifications, and also heavy graphics work can be easily done using the same. Also laptops and notebooks are pretty steeply priced. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 is a laptop or a notebook and boasts of all the specifications that can be found in a laptop or a notebook, and has more amazing specifications still. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 can work on an i3 or i5 or even i7 Intel pentium Core processor. It has a 12.1 inch wide display screen and was released or launched earlier this year in 2010. It can be used to do heavy graphics and multimedia work and has great high definition audio and video features, amazing ROM and RAM, that makes it a much faster laptop with which to actually work with. In terms of efficiency and speed this is the best laptop in its category and the Lenovo ThinkPad X201 can also be considered as a must buy in the field of laptops. One should definitely go for the Lenovo ThinkPad X201 if high definition audio or graphics and impressive multimedia features is what one actually desires. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 is undoubtedly the best laptop that Lenovo has brought out this year. A number of statistics will also prove the above statement.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U450 p is a cut above the Lenovo ThinkPad and are basically an absolutely new range of laptops from Lenovo which occupy quite a dominant share of the market when it comes to laptop design and the construction of laptops. The segment of laptops it can be compared to it terms of design an performance is possibly the Asus Eee PC 1005 HA or the Toshiba Qosmio G 45 or the Sony vaio fw 270j or the Sony vaio E series of laptops or the HP Elite Book 2540p or the Alienware Aurora or the Alienware m 15 or the Alienware 11x or the dell tudio 1537 or even the Samsung R610 multimedia. The Lenovo IdeaPad U450p is comparable to all these laptops and on the basis of overall performance the Lenovo IdeaPad U450 p is definitely and without a doubt much better than all of these laptops or notebooks. But for the purpose of surfing the net the Lenovo IdeaPad U450p is definitely not the best in its system or category. Also the software compatibility index is not very high and a number of technical glitches have already been noticed in this particular laptop that make it not the best laptop by Lenovo. In fact in terms of software compatibility the Lenovo IdeaPad U450 p gets less points than all the other Think Pads. But for basic functions and even for multimedia this is the laptop that one should go for. It has high definition multimedia and graphics that make it one of the best laptops to have come out from the stables of Lenovo when it comes to specifically the multimedia features of the laptop. The Lenovo IdeaPad U450 p is definitely here to stay by the looks of it.
It is actually an absolutely undeniable fact that the brand or company Lenovo is actually the market leader in actually most parts of the world when it actually comes to the field of the design and also construction of absolutely new age laptops and notebooks. What is actually even more unique about the brand or company Lenovo is that they are actually and always constantly in an effort to reinvent themselves and their brand and are therefore engaged in the production of laptops as well as notebooks or even actually netbooks with actually much better features and specifications than the specifications that are actually sported by their predecessor models that were actually released actually even a few month ago. One might wonder about the fact that how is this achieved in the first place? Lenovo actually accomplishes this or makes this possible by actually conducting market studies and actually also quite a number of analyses which actually show them the various problems that are being faced by the users of their latest laptops and then a team of scientists and engineers from actually all over the world get together to create the best technology that is possible using their unlimited resources, brains and collaborative efforts.
